Next year, 2021, will be special in the sense that the Japanese-built Toyota Corolla, in its various iterations, will have been on sale new somewhere in the world for fifty-five years. Amazingly, the brand has sold a similar number in millions of this dependable model. That’s quite a record.
Quality Cars and Keen Prices
One way or another, it has been felt for a long time now that because of the rules, regulations of that country plus the stringent build quality and affordable prices from the various manufacturers, Japanese cars are safe and reliable to buy. Japanese drivers change their vehicles more often than average and as such there is a burgeoning market for used vehicles, including the latest model Toyota Corolla, which can of course be shipped around the world to waiting online buyers. That is after all what we do here.
Japanese Cars Today
Driving in Japan is generally an expensive pursuit. Parking in the towns and cities can be costly, fuel is expensive and for this reason many use public transport for their day-to-day activities. This in turn makes their cars lightly used and that is a good thing for buyers. For this reason car owners take care of their vehicles and also explains the fondness motorists have for small, fuel efficient cars. Further, Japanese car owners are financially penalised for keeping old cars; presumably on the basis of emissions and pollution.
But it is not all about low-cost run-arounds. Luxury cars, from the likes of Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Infinity are, globally, among the best selling Japanese cars.
Trusted Cars
As far as reliability is concerned, recent studies have shown that some eighty percent of Toyota cars, which were sold even twenty years ago, can still be found motoring happily around somewhere on the roads of the world. Buyers like longevity it seems.
In fact, it is not uncommon to find a Nissan, Lexus or Mitsubishi car with very, very high mileage, still motoring on. There is even the true story of a 1990 Honda Accord that is known to have one million miles on the clock. Though it has been used so much, the engine was rebuilt once only! That’s quite an achievement for any machine.
Pets Like Japanese Cars
Niche brand Subaru, makers of one of the most trusted 4x4 range of vehicles, is also considered to be the safest car for pets. Quite how the pets were surveyed is not known although of course it might just have been the owners passing on the compliment. Pets are after all part of the family.
Sometimes something especially extraordinary comes along, like the astonishing and blisteringly quick Nissan GT-R (examples of which appear on our website). Performance cars such as these are often luxurious, always interesting and well featured with the latest technology and, as ever, reliable and affordable. That’s why Japanese-built cars are so popular and why Toyota have sold over 50m Corollas!
